C.E. Barnes' first novel does not disappoint. The storyline is well crafted, the world building is well done and subtle, and the characters are satisfyingly flawed and dynamic. The plot is well paced. The only bad thing to say is that it was too short and the conclusion, while satisfying, wrapped up too quickly. I look forward to reading more about Findula and Sparren' adventures.Product details

An excellent first fantasy story, with an unusual premise and an unexpected -- but logical -- twist at the end. The author writes clearly and well, and it appears that this is setting up for future stories with the same characters. I hope this is the case, at least!
